The Ercol Collection Butterfly Chair is an iconic British design first launched in 1956. Designed by Lucian R Ercolani, its distinctive sculptural form combines a steam bent backrest and seat to create a dining chair that is both supportive and instantly recognisable.
Crafted from solid ash, the Butterfly Chair uses traditional Windsor wedge and tenon joinery. The chair legs extend through the seat and are secured with a wedge before the joints are carefully sanded flush, creating a strong and durable construction designed to withstand the demands of everyday use.
The Butterfly Chair can be ordered with its classic solid ash seat or, for additional comfort, with an upholstered seat in a choice of fabrics from the Ercol and Universal collections.
Made in the UK, the Butterfly Chair is available in a wide selection of Ercol finishes including Whitened, Clear Matt, Light, Dark, Vintage, Oak on Ash, Burnt Umber, Ink Blue, Moss Green and Black, allowing this classic design to be personalised to complement your home.
