Founded in 1906 by Frederick Smith who opened a small second hand furniture shop in the town. The business thrived and continued to expand and in 1935 the former roller skating rink in Dragon Road, Harrogate, proved the basis of the business as it is known today.

Our large 30,000 sq foot, fifth generation, family run store, plays host to a truly diverse range of fine furniture, luxury sofas & beds, and quality carpets.

Famous throughout the region we take a genuine pride in our profession and quality concerns. Customer care and meticulous attention to detail are the key characteristics which have made the company a corporate survivor and a thriving success. Visitors to the store are free to browse in a home from home atmosphere and can enjoy a pot of tea or a freshly ground coffee in the customer lounge.

Our experienced and helpful team of 17 staff are always available to offer advice and to assist with the selection of fabrics, styles and wood finishes with a “no pressure” approach.

All orders are delivered throughout the region by Smiths own dedicated and expert delivery team. Furniture is carefully positioned in the room and assembled with all packaging removed for recycling and where required the disposal of customers’ old furniture can be taken care of too.
