Ercol Butterfly Upholstered Chair

The Ercol Collection Butterfly Upholstered Chair combines one of Ercol's most iconic designs with the additional comfort of an upholstered seat. Originally designed by Lucian R Ercolani and launched in 1956, the Butterfly Chair is instantly recognisable for its distinctive sculptural form and beautifully shaped solid ash construction. Crafted from solid ash, the Butterfly Chair uses traditional Windsor wedge and tenon joinery. The chair legs extend through the seat and are secured with a wedge before the joints are carefully sanded flush, creating a strong and durable construction designed for everyday use. This upholstered version features a comfortable seat pad and can be personalised in a choice of fabrics from the Ercol and Universal collections, allowing you to coordinate the chair with your interior whilst retaining the distinctive character of the original Butterfly design. Made in the UK, the Butterfly Upholstered Chair is available in a choice of Ercol wood finishes, including Whitened, Clear Matt, Light, Dark, Vintage, Oak on Ash, Burnt Umber, Ink Blue, Moss Green and Black. More than seventy years after its original launch, the Butterfly Chair remains an Ercol design classic, combining Lucian Ercolani's distinctive 1956 design with solid ash craftsmanship and British manufacture.
