About Smiths The Rink

Founded in 1906 by Frederick Smith who opened a small second hand furniture shop in the town. The business thrived and continued to expand and in 1935 the former roller skating rink in Dragon Road, Harrogate, proved the basis of the business as it is known today.

The large 30,000 sq foot store now plays host to a truly diverse range of quality fine furniture, stylish hand made upholstery and luxury beds all beautifully displayed along side antiques and pre owned reproduction furniture.

Famous throughout the region we take a genuine pride in our profession and quality concerns. Customer care and meticulous attention to detail are the key characteristics which have made the company a corporate survivor and a thriving success. Visitors to the store are free to browse in a home from home atmosphere and can enjoy a freshly ground coffee in the customer lounge.

In an ever changing market both traditional and more contemporary styles are displayed, we cater for most rooms in the home and stock furniture from leading, manufacturers such as Duresta, Titchmarsh & Goodwin, Royal Oak, Ercol, Hypnos, Wade, Tempur and many more.

Clients who want custom made furniture or who are looking for that truly unique piece, can take advantage of our bespoke service where individual pieces can be tailored to exact requirements and special sizes in a variety of different timbers and finishes.

Our experienced and helpful staff are always available to offer advice and to assist with the selection of fabrics, styles and wood finishes with a “no pressure” approach.

All orders are delivered throughout the region by Smiths own dedicated and expert delivery team. Furniture is carefully positioned in the room and assembled with all packaging removed for recycling and where required the disposal of customers’ old furniture can be taken care of too.
